Jeremy Bryan Sowers was born May 17th 1983 in St.Clairsville, Ohio. He attended Ballard High School in Louisville, Kentucky. While attending Ballard he threw 4 no hitters and won the Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year and the Mr. Kentucky Baseball award. He would be drafted in the first round 20th overall to the Cincinnati Reds.
He would instead opt to attend Vanderbilt where he majored in political science. After a very successful college career Jeremy was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 2004 draft 1st round 6th overall. He would sign but not before finishing his degree.
He would have an EXTREMELY successful first pro season in 2005 reaching AAA by years end. Along the way he was credited a record of 13-4 with a 2.40 ERA and won the Bob Feller award being the best pitcher in the Indians minor league.
2007 would be the year Sowers made it to the big leagues and he would go 7-4 with a 3.57 including back to back shutouts being the first Indians rookie pitcher to do that since Dick Tidrow.
However 2007 and 2008 would be more of a test for Sowers compiling a total record of 5-15 but in 2009 he looks to win a rotation spot and hopefully be the best #4 starter in baseball. Yes I'm a little biased.
